Hope for sun – prep for rain – plan on a little bit of both. Welcome to colorado mountain weddings. I could not have adored working with Kandace and Rusty more for their August wedding at Devil’s Thumb Ranch. First of all, they were looking for a venue in the Caribbean when they stumbled upon DTR and Love This Day Events. That is the kind of backstory that makes you love a couple. Planning on a beach wedding – ending up at a gorgeous ranch. We planned on an outdoor ceremony and made the last minute call to move indoors. And through it all, these two remained kind and lovely and fun. Enjoy these amazing photos from my new sweet friends Chelsea and Brock from Chelsea Patricia Photography (yep, they travel). And a huge thank you to everyone who worked on this amazing day including The Paper Guppy, Christina Trostel from The Parlour, Chris from Tip Top DJ, Intricate Icings and the entire team at Devils Thumb. Yep, we loved this one.
Personally, I love pushing myself with a new design. Kandace was a wonderful, funny and had clear design style. Rusty instructed me to make it pretty (and for me to make his fiancé happy ) and that wanted great service and great music. THEY WERE A DREAM to work with. In our first design call, I may have used the word burlap. She asked why would we use that. It was at that moment that I realized that this wedding would be would be glam and nothing but. And thus – I give you barn glam!!!
After dinner, we managed to turn this lovely, soft and romantic room into a party worthy of actual club owners from Atlanta. And a good time was had by all. And as the guests left the party, we handed them hangover kits complete with muffins, mimosa makings and cocktail napkins printed with “what happened last night” and the couple’s instagram #. Needless to say, the photos that appeared for the next 48 hours made me giggle for weeks.
